R&D IC Systems Engineer

If you already have a Candidate Account, please Sign-In before you apply. Job Description: You will be a technical expert in Systems Design Engineering for Physical Layer Products. You will join a team of highly competent ASIC designers involved in design, verification, and implementation of advanced signal processing algorithms for the physical layer of high-speed coherent optical data communication networks at speeds of 400 Gbps and higher. The types of algorithms that will be implemented may include: PAM/QAM single/multi-carrier transceivers, single/multi-input adaptive equalizers/cancelers, single/multi-dimensional FEC, digital filters, and interface/integration with analog functions. Responsibilities include: • Develop the architecture for the Tx and Rx functions of an ASIC for 400 Gbps coherent optical links. • Define and document the chip requirements, architecture, communications algorithms, verification, and lab test plans. • Work on bring-up, debug, and performance evaluation of ASICs for coherent optical links • Support the marketing group and participate in customer meetings. Job Requirements: • PhD with 7 years, MSEE with 10 years, BSEE with 12 years, or equivalent experience • Expert knowledge in Coherent Optical Links (chromatic dispersion, polarization mode dispersion, carrier and timing recovery) • Expert knowledge in Communication Theory and Digital Signal Processing algorithms • Experience implementing DSP algorithms for coherent links using integer arithmetic in hardware. Familiarity with Verilog is a plus. • Hands-on experience with coherent links. • Must have experience in High-Speed Communications Systems design • Familiarity with control loops, estimation, and basic statistics. • Working knowledge of analog circuit behavior • Expertise using Matlab. • Knowledge of IEEE and OIF standards is a plus. • Good oral and written communication skills. Additional Job Description: Compensation and Benefits The annual base salary range for this position is $126,000 - $210,000 This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
