As a Health, Safety & Environmental Manager you will be responsible for understanding and driving the global safety strategy at the local level. This role will be located in Pekin, IL. FLSmidth is a 180-employee facility comprised of a foundry, machine shop and warehouse. Your responsibilities Designs & implements programs to eliminate and prevent disease, injury or environmental issues within the framework of the global & regional HSE standards. • Analyzes work environments and site standards as a basis for action required to improve conditions and to meet the global standards for HSE • Informs management of areas not in compliance with global standards for Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) or local legislature • Provides training on new regulations, policies and how to recognize hazards - Understands OSHA , Federal and State requirements • Estimates risks and provides input to improved procedures on how to reduce risks and hazards • Carries out audits and evaluates the probability of accidents and identifies where control needs to be implemented to reduce or eliminate risks • Evaluate machinery to ensure that they function without risk of personal injury or environmental pollution - Compile risk assessments for this activity • Identifies hazards according to standard procedure and establishes and maintains a system for handling and disposing of hazardous materials • Establishes and builds relations with relevant authorities • Promotes a culture of personal and team safety, including others who may be affected by the company’s operational activities What you bring Previous experience in a safety role within mining or a manufacturing environment Bachelor's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school (preferred) Knowledge of OSHA regulations and processes Effective presentation skills and experience delivering safety training Advanced Microsoft Office abilities (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) Strong verbal and written communication skills Self-motivated attitude and the ability to use initiative What we offer Relocation assistance (as needed based on geographic location at time of hire) Competitive benefit package including health, dental, disability, life, and voluntary insurance options/ Generous health package including health, dental, disability, life, and voluntary insurance options starting on day one Time to recharge through PTO, plus 10 annual holidays, and parental maternity leave Work-life balance with a flexibility policy on remote work so you can focus on professional and personal priorities Retirement preparation with a 401(k) and company matching Financial support for continuing education Annual bonus for Professional Engineering licenses Employee Assistance Program An equal opportunity employer committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace A global network of supportive colleagues and growth opportunities FLSmidth is the leading supplier of engineering, equipment and service solutions to customers in the mining and cement industries – for more information please visit FLSmidth.com/careers
