What are the responsibilities and job description for the Host position at 9th Street Bistro?
Open Position Part Time Host / FOH Support
Responsibilities include greeting and seating guests, answering phonecalls and managing reservations using Open Table. Also pre-bussing, delivering food & beverages, bussing and resetting tables. Primary responsibility is to work with our Front of House team to deliver excellent hospitality to our guests in our small, 35-seat restaurant. Preference given to applicants who hold or are willing to obtain an alcohol server’s permit. In addition to the hourly rate, the Host earns a portion of our tip pool.
Shifts are typically from 4/4:30 until 9:30/10pm, and we're seeking someone to commit to working 2 days per week. Working one or two Mondays or Tuesdays (Special Events) per month may also be required.
About Us
In the short time since we've opened for dine-in, we've earned a 3/3 Star Review from Indianapolis Monthly Magazine, were included in Indy Monthly's 25 Best Restaurants and Chef Samir has been named a Semi-Finalist for the James Beard Best Chef - Great Lakes Region.
We are a small Chef-driven Bistro just off the square in Downtown Noblesville that opened for dine-in on September 9, 2021. We were a few weeks away from our grand opening when the pandemic hit in March 2020, and we quickly reconceptualized to offer "Sunday Supper Club," a changing weekly menu of Ready-to-Heat dishes. Chef/Owner Samir is an experienced & accomplished veteran of the hospitality industry (and also the US Coast Guard) with a passion for fresh & local ingredients. Chef Samir runs a true scratch-kitchen with little to no waste, sources produce from Full Hand Farm, Teter Organic Farm and Harker Family Farm, and has a penchant for teaching those eager to learn. Chef's wife and co-owner, Rachel, leads the front of house.
We are seeking to add to our small, tight-knit staff comprised of individuals who passionately pursue genuine hospitality, who eagerly work well with a team & who dearly love food. Prior experience is not as important as passion & eagerness to learn. All team members will be respected and valued, compensated appropriately, and may be cross-trained. Owners are hands-on, working alongside our team every night of service.
Expectations
At the Bistro, we fancy that that team members maintain a neat appearance, respect all colleagues and guests, and assert professional conduct.
Cross-training is encouraged in order to expand knowledge of food and service.
