Expanded Functions Dental Assistant

Looking for a qualified, enthusiastic, dedicated, self-driven, reliable and hard working individual who can help cover two of our offices during the week. The position will require traveling to Tampa and Wesley Chapel office during the week. We need someone to cover 2 days at Tampa office and two days to cover at Wesley Chapel Office.

Position: Expanded Functions Dental Assistant

Reports To: Office Manager/Dentist

Position Description: Expanded Functions Dental assistants are responsible for providing the patient with high quality care by performing a variety of office, laboratory, and patient care duties. This usually entails helping the dentist and hygienist handle patients, instruments, and supplies during the treatment of the teeth, mouth, and gums. EFDAs also document patient care and take x-rays.

Responsibilities for Expanded Functions Dental Assistant:

• Welcome patients and get them situated in the appropriate treatment room
• Take and document patient dental history and updates, as well as overall health and medication history
• Assist dentist and hygienist by handling supplies and instruments as requested
• Prepare tables and trays for dentist with necessary instruments and supplies
• Clean and sterilize instruments, and prepare treatment rooms as needed
• Take, expose, and mount high quality dental radiographs
• Perform patient charting as instructed by the dentist
• Create, update and Post Treatment Plans as necessary
• Present Treatment Plans to patients
• Working knowledge of dental procedure codes and inter-dependencies
• Ensure appropriate supply of equipment and materials
• Assist in end of day office closing activities
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and OSHA standards and requirements in all interactions
• Be a Team Player and assist team members as needed
• Perform all duties with utmost honesty, integrity and humility

Qualifications for Expanded Functions Dental Assistant

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
• Licensed as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or a Registered Dental Assistant in Extended Functions (RDAEF)
• Current CPR certification required
• Radiology certification required
• 1-2 years of experience as an RDA
• Experience with Dentrix is preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to follow outlined policies and guidelines
• Possess a professional and positive attitude

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
