What are the responsibilities and job description for the Media Dev/Illustrator II position at A-dec?
- Using a variety of design software programs, the incumbent develops and creates illustrations of A-dec products for various technical communication publications, advising customers and less experienced illustrators on illustration approaches.

Supports two or more of the following specialty areas: print production, simple animation, document design, engineering CAD model leverage or conversion, 3D modeling, basic multimedia or web development, video photography, and/or user-centered design and usability testing.

Teams with technical communicators, engineers, and other subject matter experts to research customer needs and define technical illustration and animation requirements, and estimates, plans, develops, and coordinates reviews for usability.

Develops and maintains in-depth working knowledge of required department software applications and A-dec products related to installation, use, and service, and may assist in the evaluation of new tools.

Supports and may lead development of illustration and specialty area standards and processes.
- May coordinate the work of other illustrators when assigned as a lead and trains others on standards and processes as needed.
- Generally requires a bachelor’s degree and approximately 4-5 years of professional experience in technical illustration or an equivalent combination of coursework and experience.
- Experience working with computer-aided drafting, basic photography, photo editing programs, and expertise in developing effective technical illustrations along with experience utilizing other media types.
- Ability to effectively estimate and manage moderately complex projects with demonstrated communication, collaboration, and peer leadership skills. Must also have experience developing and implementing standards and processes along with intermediate to expert level knowledge of relevant software applications.
- Experience participating in usability testing and evaluating user-centered design, along with the ability to quickly learn new products, relevant technologies, and new software applications.
