Nature-Based School Age Program Assistant
Position Summary:
The Nature-Based School Age Program Assistant plays a vital role in fostering a nurturing and secure environment for children while supporting the School Age Classroom Leaders and Program Director. This position involves actively engaging in educational activities, maintaining a clean and organized classroom, and promoting positive interactions among children, parents, and staff members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the team to plan and implement engaging school-age program activities that align with the program's nature-based curriculum.
- Foster children's participation and enthusiasm in activities while ensuring the classroom materials are well-maintained and accessible.
- Maintain open communication with parents through daily reports and informal discussions to keep them informed about their child's progress and experiences.
- Model and encourage self-help skills and hygiene practices among children.
- Facilitate smooth transitions during daily activities and transitions.
- Adhere to program policies, state regulations, and safety protocols at all times.
- Pursue ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and contribute to the continuous improvement of the program.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1-2 years of teaching or childcare experience, with a preference for experience in a nature-based setting.
- Enthusiastic and energetic approach to working with children.
- Strong interpersonal skills, effective communication (both verbal and written), and basic computer proficiency.
- Understanding of child development principles and the ability to create developmentally appropriate activities.
- Leadership qualities, organizational abilities, and a collaborative mindset.
- Current Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certification.
- Clear background check and health screening results.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Educational credentials such as a School Age Credential, High School Diploma or GED, and significant college coursework in education or related fields.
