As a dental assistant you will work with the dentist and your team to promote good dental and general health through education, patient interaction, planning and support. You will be an integral player in each of your patient experiences and remembered. You will count more than you know.

Responsibilities Include:
- Prepare room for patient care
- Engage patient for dental hygiene by welcoming, setting the stage in a fun, approachable manner, seating and draping patient.
- Examine patients’ mouth for oral health, OHI, and provide the following treatment as instructed and approved by the dentist:
- Tooth and restoration polishing
- Removal of excess cement with hand instruments when applicable
- Taking of necessary radiographs
- Sealant application
- Arrest dental decal by applying fluorides and other cavity-preventing agents
- Material mixing and preparation for restorations or necessary medicaments to be used
- Take impressions of teeth
- Answer questions and provide parents, or guardians with information about patients’ oral health, treatment, and hygiene.
- Communicate and work alongside dental staff to provide the patient with a high level of care.
Requirements/Competencies
- Current Oregon Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) required
- Effective verbal skills to communicate with patients, parents, doctors and staff, in person and on the telephone
- Ability to work on multiple projects at once
- Bilingual is a plus.
