What are the responsibilities and job description for the Finance Clerk (Hybrid) position at A.N. Deringer, Inc.?

This position is responsible for accurately and promptly processing, analyzing, and reporting financial data to support the financial strength of the company.

Job Responsibilities:

Level I:

  • Performs routine and repetitive accounting duties in areas of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll or credit and collections.
  • Timely filing of all vendor invoices, payments, and other accounting documents.
  • Compiles and sorts documents, such as invoices and checks, substantiating business transactions.
  • Matches and enters invoices, accounts receivables, and other accounting documents.
  • Matches invoice to check and prepares for mailing or deposit.
  • Cross-trains in additional responsibilities.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by management.

Level II: In addition to the tasks noted in Level I, the position:

  • Makes corrections and adjustments to accounts and notifies customers or branches accordingly.
  • Audits invoices against purchase orders, researches discrepancies and approves for payment.
  • Communicates with vendors and customers regarding invoices, statements and payments due and conducts research necessary to resolve issue.
  • Assists employees, vendors, clients, or customers by answering questions related to accounts, invoices, statements, procedures, and services.
  • Provides accounting assistance to ports in reconciling and payment of their invoices.

Level III: In addition to the tasks noted in Level II, the position:

  • Performs calculations, reconciliations and analyzes reports; researches any discrepancies.
  • Processes settlements to include AP & AR involving foreign currency conversion.
  • Maintains accurate files and histories.
  • Reconciles general ledger accounts according to schedules and/or statements.
  • Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed; totals accounts to general ledger databases or Excel spreadsheets.
  • Maintains foreign exchange rates in Company’s systems.
  • Audits expense reports for accuracy and supporting receipts.
  • Reconciles all bank statements, researches and resolves errors; has direct contact with bank.
  • Assists with financial analysis and general ledger adjustments; audits for transaction accuracy.
  • Processes U.S. Customs refunds for customers or Company and notifies customers accordingly.
  • Conducts daily reviews of duty-input statements and transfer funds.

Level IV: In addition to the tasks noted in Level III, the position:

  • Ensure teams meet established timeframes and follow accounting principles
  • Hold team accountable for following prescribed SOP’s and process flows to ensure a compliant, efficient workflow
  • Assists their team in resolving complex problems
  • Develops and creates an environment to help motivate and optimize performance and professional growth
  • Provides reporting and feedback to the accounting manager
  • Organizes or schedules other people and their tasks; develops realistic action plans
  • Is available to their team to provide regular performance feedback

Travel:

This is a hybrid position with the expectation of coming into the Saint Albans, VT office 2-3 times a week.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma with three years of accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Level I: Proficient in Microsoft office products (i.e. Word, Excel, Access). Accurate filing and data entry skills – keyboard and number pad.

Level II: Associates degree with three years of accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to work without supervision and to make appropriate decisions.

Predominately sedentary light office position with high frequency of keyboarding/computer work required (67% - 100% of the workday).

The employee is required to regularly use hands and fingers; talk and hear.

The employee usually works in a quiet environment.
