Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Accounting Associate, Accounting Clerk, Accounting Specialist:

The Accountant I provides integral support to the accounting team. This position is responsible for both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. The Accountant I also performs key accounting tasks related to the month-end and year-end close processes. Financial Edge knowledge is a plus but not a requirement.

Duties and responsibilities

• Prepare and submit grant invoices, including supporting documentation.
• Coordinate and monitor collection activities.
• Input invoices and apply payments in a computerized accounting system.
• Act as point of contact for invoicing for internal and external partners.
• Assist with monthly accounting close activities to prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Provide audit assistance and gather necessary account information and documents to perform audits.
• Perform administrative duties such as scanning and filing.
• Complete other related duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent education and training in a related field.
• Minimum of one year of experience in accounting; experience in cost accounting, government/fund accounting, governmental contracts, federal awards, and/or non-profit organizations preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Acrobat, and DocuSign.
• Experience using a computerized accounting system (Blackbaud Financial Edge preferred)
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Detail oriented.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. 
• Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of cost accounting principles is preferred.
• Knowledge of governmental fund accounting is preferred.

• Ability to communicate well with people of diverse cultural, professional and experiential backgrounds.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Working conditions

Work is often conducted in an office environment inside a standard clinic setting. Basic safety precautions and use of protective clothing or gear is required. Occasional evening and weekend work is required.
