Sun City Anthem at Merrill Ranch in Florence, Arizona is a vibrant 55 Active Adult community offering resort-style living. The 48,000 sq. ft. recreation center features a large ballroom with stage, a variety of game rooms, craft rooms, a classroom, state-of-the-art fitness center, indoor and outdoor pools and a cybercafé. Outdoor amenities include pickleball, tennis and bocce ball courts, an amphitheater, large community park and an 18-hole golf course and restaurant. The community currently has 1850 homes closed, with an estimated 3,000 homes when completed.
Primarily responsible for developing and building resident programs to include fitness and wellness designed to enrich the quality of life and enhance the vibrancy of the community for residents and/or prospective homebuyers of the Sun City Anthem at Merrill Ranch community.
Position Responsibilities:
- Building the fitness department infrastructure and oversee the day-to-day operations of the aquatic facilities, exercise equipment area, aerobic/dance studio, spa facilities and locker rooms.
- Monitor outdoor sports area for safety and condition of facility.
- Developing, modifying and implementing fitness programming.
- Developing, modifying and overseeing wellness programming.
- Developing and modifying the department operations manual to include information regarding departmental policies, procedures, customer service standards, employee development and evaluations and department administrative requirements.
- Recruiting, hiring, developing and oversee the management of the fitness department team members to include fitness coordinators, fitness monitors, personal trainers, group trainers and any contracted service providers as required for programming.
- Maintaining facility equipment, organizing regular maintenance and repair needs along with forecasting future needs for the department.
- Controlling, monitoring and forecasting the budgetary needs of the department.
- Developing, maintaining and monitoring the customer service standards and measures.
- Modifying programming and resident needs based on the customer service standard results
- Managing large-scale fitness/wellness events.
- Budget accountability for all fitness related disciplines.
- Work with members of the leadership team to coordinate, plan and monitor community center activities.
- Monitor fitness and wellness activities to ensure facilities, customer service and offered events/classes meet the needs of the residents.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience and exposure with wide variety of exercise equipment, instructional techniques, injury prevention, fitness/wellness counseling, and developing/interpreting personalized fitness/wellness regimens.
- Personable, polite, dependable and able to effectively communicate and establish positive relations with the general public.
- Ability to perform a high level of customer service relations.
- Computer proficiency in basic programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Power Point.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Must be flexible and capable of working extended hours to include weekends and holidays as necessary.
- Must be able to manage various types of employees and understand and adhere to contractual terms with contracted employees.
- Must have a strong working knowledge of health and fitness as well as the ability to develop programming and employees.
- Must be able to speak English in a clear and understandable voice so that various types of communications may be conducted with people of various levels of education and capabilities, to include the exchange and receipt of information over the phone.
- Position involves sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, shoving, lifting, carrying and moving around objects that may weigh up to 45 pounds.
- Must be able to interact with all types of individuals, be mentally alert, detail-oriented, and possess good reasoning and management skills.
- Must be able to work on more than one assignment at a time with frequent interruptions, changes and delays. Must be able to remain focused and work effectively, efficiently and cheerfully under such circumstances.
