HOW IT WORKS

AARP Foundation SCSEP provides both community service and work-based training. Working an average of 18 hours a week, participants are paid Texas minimum wage and are compensated by SCSEP directly. We currently have Clerical openings at non-profit and public facilities. This on-the-job training experience can then be used as a bridge to find employment opportunities outside of the program.

WHO’S ELIGIBLE?

To participate, you must be age 55 or older, unemployed and financially qualified. Please contact your local office to learn more about the financial qualifications.

OTHER BENEFITS

In addition to job and community service placement, AARP Foundation SCSEP provides participants with training and support services that are important for finding future employment. These services include individual Employment Plan (IEP) development, specialized training to prepare for placements, wages and fringe benefits, annual physicals, assistance in securing future employment and access to local Workforce Solutions Office.

AARP Foundation’s Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) was created to help make connections between older adults looking to return to the workforce and employers looking to benefit from mature, experienced employees. For more than 45 years, the program has provided Americans over age 55 with opportunities to fill entry-level and mid-level positions with employers in their communities. AARP Foundation SCSEP has successfully moved thousands of older adults into jobs-providing them with opportunities to contribute their skills while also offering valuable work experience.
