PCB Assembler

Position Description:

The PCB Assembler performs any combination of following duties in the assembly of electronic components onto Surface Mount Technology and Plated Thru Hole printed circuit boards:

• Reads worksheets and wiring diagrams, receives verbal instructions, or follows sample board to determine assembly duties, and installs components, such as transistors, resistors, relays, capacitors, inductors, and integrated circuits.
• Twists, bends, trims, or strips, wire leads of components to insert wire leads into printed circuit boards, using hand tools or automated equipment.
• Inserts color-coded wires in designated holes and clinches wire ends, using hand tools.
• Press-fits component leads onto PCB.
• Places plastic insulating sleeves around specified wire leads of components and shrinks sleeves into place, using heat gun.
• Crimps wire leads on underside of board, using hand tools or clinch and cut equipment.
• Applies sealer or masking compound to selected parts of PCB to protect parts from effects of the wave solder process.
• Solders wire leads and joints on underside of board, using soldering iron, to route and connect lead wires to PCB and between individual components.
• Installs heat sinks, sockets, faceplates, and accessories on PCB using hand tools.
• May be assigned other PCB assembly duties as required.

Required Experience:

Minimum of 1 year experience:

• As an Electronic Assembler
• Hand soldering electronic PCB assemblies
• Building cable assemblies

Required Knowledge/Skills:

• Able to follow routing sheets, work instructions, wiring diagrams, and other written instructions as required
• Familiar with IPC-A-610 standard, certification preferred.
• Familiar with IPC J-STD-001standard, certification preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.69 - $17.00 per hour
