What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at ABB Inc.?
As a Buyer, need to perform entry level purchasing functions and assist other purchasing personnel in the efficient procurement of goods and services. Also provides administrative and clerical support to the supply chain management team.
This position reports toProcurement & Logistics Manager
Your responsibilities- Reviews requisitions and develops specifications to permit competitive procurement of non-complex items
- Solicits written and telephone quotations, interviews salespersons and vendors, and seeks new sources of supplies
- Organize and prioritize large volumes of information, call suppliers/vendors to expedite deliveries, and assist in tabulating bids
- Verifies budgeted funds for specific products/projects
- Assists the Buyer in maintaining procurement documents in a systematic and auditable fashion
- Answer phones and/or field/answer all routine and non-routine questions
- Handle confidential vendor, customer, and non-routine information
- Type and design general correspondences, memos, charts, tables, graphs, business plans, etc.
- Must complete all required mandatory Safety, OSHA, and ISO 9001 training (see attached list)
- Performing all other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED required. Some college or advanced education in business, purchasing or supply chain
- 2 years of Buying experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in purchasing or business related environment
- Implement departmental continuous improvement process to eliminate errors and improve service
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands
- Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software (MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
- Strong computer skills required with typing speed of 45 wpm minimum. Experience with Excel and other Office 365 applications, as well as strong data entry skills for other computer software applications of the business
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
