This role involves heading up a team of procurement and logistics specialists in the Electrification Services (ELSE) in Florence, South Carolina implementing effective sourcing strategies to ensure that suppliers have the capability and capacity to meet current and future business requirements. In this role you will be responsible for heading up the procurement, logistics, and inventory teams in the US ELSE (Electrification Services) business. Responsible for implementing effective sourcing strategies to ensure that suppliers have the capability and capacity to meet current and future business requirements. Leading Procurement and Logistics team to deliver PL KPIs including but not limited to, cost saving, cash improvement, fulfillment, supplier quality and sustainable supply chain. Accountable for supplier on time delivery, lead time, raw and WIP (Work in process) inventory and logistic carrier services. Provides leadership to accomplish these goals through communication, decision making, educated risk management, and holding the team accountable for the stated objectives.

Your responsibilities

  • Operations Planning: Support operations planning process covering safety stocks, components lead times, parts shortages, confirmed delivery dates, and expedite options. Recommend solutions when supply is constrained
  • Material Capability: Sponsor the designated supplier sales and operations planning processes to ensure key suppliers have transparency to support the material demand. Ensure robust vendor options exist to support business needs
  • Inventory Management: Own the inventory and checkbook for the local unit. Establish and maintain an inventory management process for raw and WIP (work in progress) materials in line with business unit instructions. Drive inventory optimization projects within the site
  • Logistics and material handling: Lead the execution of receiving, shipping, warehousing using efficient and effective processes in line with global BU direction
  • Continuous Improvement: Leads/contributes to cross functional initiatives such as improving delivery speed, on time delivery, supplier integration and lean processes in order to synchronize business processes and maximize inventory optimization opportunities. Use lean 6 sigma tools when applicable. Collaborate with other units in the end to end supply chain
  • Technology: Provide local leadership supporting the implementation and changes to business processes, planning systems and ERP systems
  • People Leadership and Development: ensure that local planning teams are properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed. Guides, motivates, and develops direct and indirect subordinates within HR (Human Resource) policies for the benefit of both ABB and the employee
  • Overseeing buying and strategical activities to ensure supply of material in close collaboration with the operations teams and by that minimizing risk in accordance with ABB procedures and guidelines
  • Support the business on new product developments and material compliance related requests
  • Monitoring internal and supplier performance, quality and development actions while resolving issues related to costs, quality, and delivery
  • Adapting corporate contractual frameworks to local business needs, and recommending frame agreements to management and executing them, as well as providing oversight and contract management with suppliers
  • Defining and establishing local standard agreements with all major suppliers, while providing and maintaining standard terms in purchase contracts/terms and conditions in line with company directives and guidelines
  • Supporting new product/component development in terms of supplier selection, cost control and project execution to achieve project target and business objectives
  • Collaborating with technology, engineering, and operation team to develop and implement cost out projects to improve business profitability
  • Being responsible for supplier quality, manage supplier audit and qualification, continuously reduce cost of failure, and improve supplier quality performance
Your background

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, engineering or manufacturing related field and 8 plus years managerial experience in operations or supply chain management in multinational companies
  • APICS certification preferred
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and leadership skills highly desired
  • Working knowledge of bill of materials and routings preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Conducts self in very courteous, positive and professional manner
  • Must be team oriented with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels within the facility/Corporate /customers, etc
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks, changing priorities and perform well under pressure
  • Passionate and capable of challenging status quo and driving changes
  • Must be self-motivated, results driven, demonstrated leadership, and ability to take initiatives
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
