Job Responsibilities:
Summary: As a member of Production Operations, a Lab Technician will be cross trained in a variety of production tasks and processes as necessary to meet production requirements, while maintaining and consistently meeting established performance standards.
Essential Responsibilities include the following. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned or deleted as the manufacturing process evolves.
- A Lab Technician will be proficient in at least 2 different standard production processes as defined by management. Currently these consists of; base curve blocking, BC lathing; GP base curve polishing; GP base curve inspection; front curve blocking, FC lathing, GP front curve polishing; deblocking/cleaning; Soft Lens dry power inspection; lens edge finishing; final cleaning; Plasma treatment; Soft Lens invoicing/packaging and shipping; Soft Lens button sizing, Soft Lens work order launch; Soft Lens tinting; Soft Lens sterilization; Soft Lens labeling and Saline Production.
- A Lab Technician will be responsible to participate in and perform any of the job skills they have been qualified or trained for, as deemed necessary by a Production Lead, Supervisor or Management Personnel in order achieve the daily production requirements.
- A Lab Technician will have a basic understanding of regulatory protocols and maintain strict compliance to the Quality System that they have become familiarized with.
- Complete and maintain production, verification and set-up logs for manufacturing and inspection equipment.
- Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures and Production Work Instructions at all times in the performance of production activities.
- Perform self-inspection to ensure results of performed activities meet order specification and conform to manufacturing tolerances and quality standards.
- Report all defective product, deficiencies and or equipment malfunctions to Lead or management personnel.
- Ensure all orders are processed according to designated work order priority levels necessary to meet customer’s requirements and expectations.
- Maintain clean and organized work area throughout the manufacturing environment.
- Follow and uphold all OSHA guidelines, policies and safety regulations. Report all safety hazards or incidents to a supervisor or Manager.
- Comply with schedule adherence, which includes clocking in and out at start and end of shift, and during scheduled breaks, as outlined in the ABB CONCISE Employee Handbook.
- Participate in ongoing departmental cross-training opportunities and assessments.
- Be present for team, department and company-wide meetings as scheduled and actively participate in team discussions, providing feedback as necessary to maintain and improve the work environment.
- Participate in department and company activities.
- Provide a collaborative effort and assistance to other Associates and departments as needed.

- High school diploma or equivalent required.

Desired Qualifications
- Prior work experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred, but not required.
