We are currently looking for :

ONE Full-Time Veterinary Technician / Assistant / RVT

The Position: Must have the knowledge and ability to safely care for patients from start to finish, along with the confidence to support clients from intake to discharge and beyond.

  • Alternate work week schedule (four, 10-hr shifts) option for full-time positions.

Requirements including, but not limited to:

  • Closing, alternating weekend (Saturday) and/or holiday shifts will be required.
  • Positive, kind, compassionate, courteous, and accountable team player.
  • Able to balance working with minimal supervision and identifying own limitations. Do not be afraid to ask for help.
  • Willing to jump in and assist other team members as needed.
  • Attendance at quarterly staff meetings to maintain team building and growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical knowledge and practice resulting in accurate, safe and appropriate: patient handling, phlebotomy, IV/IM/SQ injection administration, radiograph positioning and execution, IV catheter placement, sample preparation, medication administration, prescription fulfillment, and various other tasks.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with colleagues (veterinarians, fellow techs, kennel attendants, and CSRs) and clients to ensure that patients receive the care they need.
  • Friendly and flexible in the face of varying expectations from clients and coworkers.
  • Multi-task, prioritize well, and think creatively.

The Location: Abbey Pet Hospital is conveniently located in the little known east bay city of El Cerrito. We're a stone's throw away from Del Norte BART, easily accessible via I-80, and have our own private parking lot. There are numerous cafes, restaurants, and grocery stores nearby.
