Looking for Nanny to Start: ASAP!
$1,000 to $1,100 per week PAID Vacation, PAID Holidays & PAID Personal Days
Monday to Friday: 8:00am to 5:00pm
Happy days abound when you’re here! This Palmyra family is seeking a long term nanny to play and keep their sweet boys safe! They need someone to help with meals, tidying up, and keeping a routine. Experience with special needs children is a huge plus!
4 years old boy: He has Down Syndrome and is not yet speaking. He relates better to adults because of this, as most adults are able to learn the sign language that he uses and understand his gestures. He is outgoing though and can make a new friend wherever he goes! He prefers routine, but easily adapts to new situations as long as he is given plenty of warning. He is in preschool 4 mornings a week, and he sees multiple therapists and specialists. The family is looking for someone who can focus on applying recommended strategies at home and while playing with him. He LOVES chicken nuggets, fries, and broccoli and asks for them constantly! He eats a wide variety of foods. The family is working on safe eating practices and monitoring bite sized and care when he eats crunchy foods. He does take a nap still from about 1pm-4pm each day. He takes an inhaled medication daily, and more when he is sick or congested. The family is able to administer this to him. The family would like the nanny to help focus on potty training before he attends preschool. He is not yet verbally speaking, but has an AAC device he can use to communicate what he wants and needs, as well as he is doing very well at using sign language.
2 years old boy: He is very shy with new people and situations but once he warms up he is the most energetic, funny, and loving little boy. If you are part of his inner circle, he will love you intensely! He is just beginning to enjoy playing with peers. He is in preschool two mornings a week. They would love the nanny to continue working on learning letters, colors, and numbers with him as well as help him navigate forming friendships. He loves pizza! He is usually willing to try new foods but like any toddler will sometimes refuse even his favorites. He naps from about 1pm to 3pm each day. He takes allergy medicine daily. He is interested in the potty, and the family is letting him lead on when he is ready. He really likes to talk! He has a large vocabulary and is always repeating new words that he hears. He often only says the first syllable of a word, so context is key to understanding him, but anyone who regularly spends time with him can easily understand what he is saying.
Pets: They have one male dog, who is 7 years old. He is a Beagle/Boston Terrier mix. He occasionally will play fetch with the children or let them pet him, but generally prefers to keep to himself. He is not allowed in the boys' playroom. They have a fenced in backyard for him, and would like the nanny to let him out throughout the day. They do not expect the nanny to take him for a walk unless they want to. He eats 3 meals a day. The children like to help feed him lunch. The family discourages giving him table food as he is highly food motivated. He is terrified of thunderstorms and generally just hides upstairs. He barks at everyone passing on the street, but runs away the second someone comes up to him. He is a very sweet dog.
Schedule: The family would like their nanny to start as soon as possible. Their current nanny will be working through the end of April and will be available for overlap and training. Any change to the schedule would be extremely rare. At most, they may ask the nanny to move the start or end time by 30 minutes earlier or later. This would not be a requirement, but they would appreciate the flexibility. Payroll. Dad travels for work somewhat regularly and Mom travels a few times a year, but generally both parents work from home full-time. They both have dedicated office spaces in the house. Their sons do well with and have no issues with separation after seeing them in passing during the day. The children have a playroom in the basement as well. They do not require help with travel, but it would be a plus if the nanny would be able to help with their yearly trip. The nanny’s summer schedule will be the same as the school year schedule, with the only difference that the children will not be in class. They need a nanny who can drop off and pick up from school Monday-Thursday, and drive their oldest son to his therapy sessions once a week (45 mins each way). The nanny has access to the family’s vehicle during work hours. If for any reason the nanny needed to use their own car, the family would provide reimbursement.
Wishes: They are looking for a nanny to help with meal prep, sanitizing toys, doing the children’s laundry and cleaning their play spaces, empty the diaper pail, and load the dishwasher. They want a nanny is looking for a long term position to provide consistency for their children. Ideally, they would love a nanny who has experience and education in caring for children with special needs.
