ABC Supply, the nation’s largest distributor of select exterior and interior building products, is currently seeking a Construction Manager to join its success-driven team. In this role, you will provide leadership and guidance over various construction projects from start to finish within the Southwest Region (office out of Dallas). As a construction manager, you will also be responsible for maintaining finances for project budgets, collaborating with contractors, and monitoring compliance with building and safety regulations of job sites.
Position responsibilities:
Conducting job site visits for prospective or new locations, relocations, and other construction-related work
Facilitating open line of communication with complete project team including owners and engineering teams
Communicating with General Contractors weekly on project updates
Developing scope of work/estimates of a project(s) in conjunction with all involved project stakeholders
Initiating invitation to bid after the scope of work and estimate have been approved
Finalizing and submitting approved CAD drawings to appropriate internal departments
Obtaining general contractor and/or subcontractor quotes as needed
Managing permit application process on all projects as required
Creating and issuing change orders, RFIs, and RFPs as required
Pre-qualifying contractors for insurance and licensing prior to requesting bids
Awarding construction project contracts
Visiting active project locations for progress and work quality verifications
Reviewing construction invoices weekly
Collaborating with the accounting department for processing subcontractor pay requests
Assisting project assistant in gathering information for owner warranty and owner’s manual
Specific qualifications include:
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, or other related field is preferred
5 -10 years of experience in commercial construction required
Valid Driver’s License with proof of insurance is required
Experience as a Commercial PM/CM, APM, PE (or equivalent) in a construction-related organization preferred
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
Ability to read and understand construction drawings and blueprints
Basic understanding of SWIPP Compliance, water drainage, and grading
Knowledge of asphalt and concrete replacement processes, permitting requirements, and maintenance
Basic understanding of ADA guidelines for site and building compliance
Skills, knowledge, and abilities:
Knowledge and experience with obtaining permit and Certificate of Occupancy processes
Knowledge of Fire Sprinkler components and relation to High Pile Storage, requirements, and permitting
Understanding of construction estimating techniques/standards and writing scopes of work
Familiar with the standard 16 Construction divisions and specialty trades
Ability to work in stressful situations, multi-task, remain organized, and troubleshoot problems.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office & scheduling software (or equivalent applications)
Understanding of worksite safety policies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
