Plans work, directs employees and gathers resources to meet production/customer needs, department and plant goals.
Responsibilities
- Studies production/shipping schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
- Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
- Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production/material/shipping/receiving schedules.
- Recommends measures to improve material handling methods, equipment performance, and quality of service.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
- Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
- Maintains time and attendance records.
- Confers with other supervisors and leads to coordinate activities of the department.
- Coordinates efforts of shipping, receiving/warehouse/container process to ensure inventory accuracy, and ensure that the needs of vendors, customers and internal departments are met in a timely manner.
- Conducts daily pre-shift meetings with personnel.
- Participates in inventories and cycle count efforts.
- Evaluates and presents departmental and company performance results.
- Supervises truck drivers (tractor/trailer) engaged in delivery and pick-ups of production related materials.
- Supervises activities of employees engaged in the operation of remote warehousing facilities.
- Develops and maintains procedural manuals for all material handling personnel.
- Directly supervises employees in the warehouse, shipping and receiving.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school preferred.
- 3-5 years supervisory experience in materials preferred.
