What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Technician position at Ability Beyond?

Ability Beyond is currently hiring for a Maintenance Technician to perform light home improvements, preventative maintenance, minor electrical, some plumbing & carpentry duties. Prior experience is not required, this position is perfect for anyone looking to be part of a growing team!
The residential programs where the projects will take place are located in the Greater Danbury and Bristol areas in CT, as well as in various towns in Westchester and Putnam in NY. Ability Beyond has over 100 facilities to support. The ideal candidate will be a team player, encourages a positive and friendly work environment, and is eager to learn! Tasks May Include:
- Performs basic maintenance and repairs
- Basic Plumbing: repairs, replace parts, installation
- Carpentry: repairs and installs doors, shelves, countertops, locks, etc.
- Painting: drywall/plaster repairs and patching, sanding, painting.
- Basic Electrical/Appliance: lighting, wiring, troubleshooting circuits, replacing switches, etc.
- HVAC: repairs, cleans, replaces, etc.
- Open availability for on-call maintenance emergencies after normal business hours
- Operates and maintains agency owned assigned vehicles in a professional manner. Keeps them organized and clean
- Responsible for completing other related projects as assigned by Lead Technician.
- Completes administrative documents relating to the cost and control of work requests
- Performs furniture assembly and locksmith tasks as needed

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
