VP, Software Engineering

This is an onsite job in Irvine or Carlsbad, CA.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead software engineering teams responsible for building next generation client-facing experience, being built with React, Typescript, Node.js and Kubernetes microservices.
- Design elegant architectures and dive into deep technical challenges with their teams, while simultaneously connecting business context to technical solutions, growing the engineers under them, managing budgets and performance, and delivering products on time and on scope.
- Lead the creation of a next generation web, mobile and MS Office experience that unifies all customers on a single platform.
- Manage over thirty engineers responsible for building a client platform, including hiring, training, and performance management, and ensure that the work products of the team are scalable, secure, follow industry best practices, and align with company’s platform strategy.
- Grow a front-end environment with core components, DSLs, and micro-applications that scale to engineering teams and also provide an ecosystem where third-parties can build their own plugins and integration that also leverage the full power of the platform.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to translate company's platform vision and strategy into an actionable roadmap, maintain KPIs to track process, and deliver on-time and on-budget.
- Collaborate with product management, project management, user experience, market-facing teams, and adjacent engineering organizations, to deliver product vision.
- Define standards and practices for development including the software development lifecycle, system architecture, software quality, release management, automation, service design, etc.
- Serve as a mentor for team members, an evangelist of the client platform for other engineering teams and eventually the industry partners, and a translator between engineering and the business, including design sessions, code reviews, technical trainings, etc.
- Participate in presentations of client platform for technical and non-technical audiences both internal and external.
- Investigate and resolve technical and non-technical issues, including leading and participating within incident management processes and root cause analyses.
- Advise colleagues and executive stakeholders of technology opportunities that could improve the solutions brought to market.
- Contribute to enterprise strategy as a member of senior leadership team.

Skills & Requirements:
- 10 years of software engineering experience including 3 years managing software engineering teams.
- 3 years of experience with React, TypeScript, and cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
- Experience with the leadership of multiple software engineering teams in building greenfield software solutions.
- Experience with modern front-end libraries, including functionality such as Redux, React Query and Leaflet, testing tools such as Cypress and Jest, and build tools such as Webpack.
- Experience with Microservices design (AWS and Kubernetes preferred).
- Experience with API design, including OpenAPI Spec API gateways such as Apigee.
- Experience with CI/CD tools and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Chef, and/or Jenkins is preferred).
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred.
