The Environmental Services (EVS) Manager plans, coaches, coordinates and evaluates the activities of the Environmental Services department on a 24/7 basis. The Environmental Services Manager is accountable for the cleaning services in all areas within the facility. The EVS Manager is accountable for effective management of labor, productivity, infection control, customer services, budget and regulatory oversight as established by the company. The EVS Manager will oversee the teams that are responsible for cleaning and disinfecting invasive areas, inpatient care areas, clinical areas, labs, non-clinical and public areas. The EVS Manager works collaboratively with various teams throughout the facility to understand the key workstreams that impact operations. He serves as the organization’s expert on the operations of healthcare cleaning and waste stream systems while maintaining a continuous quality improvement mindset to enhance the operational procedures and business processes. This position is very visible and has constant customer contact with the organization’s managerial staff, frontline employees, patients, guests and outside vendors and contractors.

Essential Functions
- Establish standards and work procedures for Environmental Services staff that are measured by the effectiveness of the Environmental Services Department, adherence to infection control standards and the overall satisfaction of the customer.
- Measure patient throughput, deploy resources, analyze metrics to improve operational outcomes at exceptional levels.
- Evaluate standards of performance and work procedures and make necessary changes to ensure a consistent and acceptable level of service.
- Effectively manage and coach supervisors and lead workers who are responsible for oversight of the day-to-day operations, managing and developing relationships by conducting real time management activities to ensure all team members understand the performance of the business needs of their team. Conduct staff meetings and meet with members of other departments to coordinate Environmental Services activities throughout the facility. Provide training and continuing education programs to Environmental Services staff and ensure these programs are documented for each employee attending.
- Oversee corrective action process and make recommendations.
- Represent the company in client committees or attend meetings as needed.
- Lead change in procedure or operations needed to keep the department effective.
- Work effectively with the client and his department managers to coordinate departmental operations.
- Oversight for selection, interviewing and hiring, training new and existing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards, including federal, state, and accrediting agencies while adhering to facility confidentiality.
- Develop and cascade key performance metrics including staffing levels, budgeted hours, turnover time; hospital-acquired infections; inspection audits and safety events.
- Works in conjunction with Infection Control to ensure adequate disinfection practices are implemented and enforced.
Minimum Requirements
- Associate's degree or two (2) years of relevant work experience
- Five (5) years progressively responsible relevant experience with at least one (1) year supervisory or managerial experience in an health care facility.
- Preferred Five (5) years of managerial experience in a hospital facility.
- Knowledge of waste management and infection control in hospital environment.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to supervise and motivate others.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Excel, spreadsheets, and database computer applications.
- Effective organizational, planning, scheduling, and project management abilities.
- Effective leadership skills
- Familiarity with JCAHO and CMS inspections as well as Licenses and Certifications in Health Care setting preferred
- Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) preferred
