What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Chief Engineer position at ABM?
BASIC FUNCTION - Assist the Chief Engineer in the supervision and coordination of all activities concerned with the general operation and maintenance work of the mechanical, electrical and craft services. Function as a working group leader in these areas.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assumes the Chief Engineer’s duties during his/her absence.
· Assist the Chief Engineer in developing work assignments for each employee.
· Handles special work assignments and trouble calls.
· Adhere to quality levels and standard practices for all work performed.
· Assist in training personnel in proper operating procedures and techniques.
· Enforce appropriate safety regulations.
· Conduct regular inspections, report findings and make recommendations to the Chief Engineer.
· Operate mechanical and electrical equipment, which supply the job site with power, heat, refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilation.
· Posses adequate license requirements for the facility.
· Stands scheduled shift watches and work with the tools of the stationary engineer’s trade.
· Perform any additional duties as directed by the Chief Engineer within the scope of contractual and union agreements.
Personable: Able to interact well with ownership, Morlin team and engineering team, can collaborate with other groups as well

Organized: Must be able to keep his thoughts and projects organized. This includes their office, their computer and the engineering areas (shop, breakroom, locker room, storage areas, HVAC rooms, etc.)
Program Savvy: Must have great skill with using computer programs such as email, Word and Excel and a working knowledge of all engineering related programs, including Avid, Corrigo, lighting programs, HVAC, etc.
Constantly Seeking Improvements: Whether that is for energy savings, easier ways to get projects done, removing obstacles for the team, etc.
Written Skills: Must be able to write a coherent memo advocating change or in support of a proposed project to support goal #6
Bias for action: Once they have gotten approval for a project, they will implement it on time and on budget
