Position Summary
The Sales Application Engineer EV is responsible for understanding the commercially available Electric Vehicle Equipment, and how to apply these systems to meet the Client's Electrical and Civil design requirements. Working with the customer and sales to select the correct hardware and software combinations for a complete solution. The individual will be able to understand the construction world including Civil foundations & ADA requirements, Trenching, Electrical Design & Installation, utility sizing, utility coordination, and utility rate structures. The above skillsets will help ABM's sales department promote and custom quote Electric Vehicle and electrical Infrastructure systems through design and cost analysis.
This position is responsible for guiding team members and clients to proper solutions and setting a culture that ensures performance-oriented results aligned with ABM's high standards of customer service. The position will require a high sensitivity to industry and market trends that will drive the need for business change and innovation.
Essential Duties List
- Maintain an EV industry knowledge of current hardware, software, and industry trends.
- Responds in a professional, polite, and helpful manner when dealing with other staff and customers while providing proactive communications with internal and external customers.
- Apply design knowledge in medium and low voltage power distribution, EV Charging, Solar and Battery storage, and misc. equipment specification and selection.
- Provide estimating and technical sales support for electric vehicle hardware, software solutions, and industry trends.
- Work with sales team in bid creation for client RFPs (Request for Pricing/Proposals) and ABM-led proposals:
- Responsible for developing and managing proposal scope development.
- Obtaining project equipment, subcontractor, and material pricing with an accurate labor estimate.
- Responsible for participating in bid reviews with appropriate leadership teams.
- Responsible for helping to deliver and advise clients during the proposal development and delivery with clients and drive clients in closing business with ABM.
- Required to travel to job sites to perform an onsite evaluation of facility and equipment identified in the customer's scope of work and/or to assist internal customers with estimating projects, contracts, or proposals.
- Attending EV industry conferences.
- Attending on-site customer meetings supporting the sales team.
- Ensure compliance with all NEC, OSHA, State Department, and Labor Department: policies, codes, and guidelines.
- Creating and reviewing mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Responsible for attending networking and training events as it relates to sales and estimating.
- Be able to work and thrive in a TEAM environment.

Minimum Requirements
- FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) passing grade is required.
- Must have a BS degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, Smartsheet, and Microsoft Project.
- Proficient with AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD electrical.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English both written and orally with managers and clients.
- Knowledgeable of current NEC, NFPA-70E, Electrical Classifications, IEEE/ANSI and other applicable current design standards and guidelines.
- Must be willing to travel 25% of the time.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in electrical estimating with an emphasis on EV infrastructure.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in labor cost and pricing.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in electrical service work in industrial, commercial, or retail.
- Valid Driver's License with an insurable good driving record, required.
Receiving Positive Consideration
- Secret Security Clearance is highly preferred.
- Familiar with Salesforce or equivalent CRM.
- PE licensure
