The Billing Specialist will gather data, calculate charges and fees, and create invoices for billing purposes.
We are looking for reliable Billing Specialists to perform tasks that will help us monitor our revenues. You will be responsible for keeping track of money owed to us by customers, preparing invoices and updating records. A Billing Specialist must be accurate when handling accounts and documents. A good aptitude for math and a high degree of organizational ability are essential. This role uses technology to expedite your work, so proficient computer knowledge is required. The goal is to contribute to the accurate preparation of invoices for customers, receivables and safeguard the company’s income.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Creates invoices according to company practices; submits invoices to customers via customer’s preferred method.
Verifies accuracy of billing data and corrects any errors.
Creates itemized statements, bills, invoices, and other necessary billing documents, which may require calculation of credit terms, shipping charges, and costs of services
Performs general bookkeeping work, which may include entering data and maintaining records, invoices, and supporting documents of amounts due for services rendered.
Check the data input in the accounting system to ensure accuracy of final bill.
Issue customer account statement periodically or whenever necessary.
Answer questions and handle complaints from customers regarding bills
Report activity to upper management
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Experience in AR billing or general accounting experience
Excellent math ability
Adherence to laws and confidentiality guidelines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software as well as other accounting software programs.
Ability to operate related office equipment, such as computers, 10-key calculator, and copier.
Ability to anticipate work needs and interact professionally with customers.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management.
Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.
Basic understanding of clerical and administrative procedures
Ability to solve problems as they arise.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred.
At least two years of related experience required.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
