The Metrologist will work independently to support the upkeep, repair, maintenance and procurement of R&D, GLP and GMP instruments and equipment. The ideal candidate will have a background and interest in laboratory instrumentation, preferably with previous experience in in a GLP and/or GMP laboratory. The Lab Instrument Service Specialist will use his/her scientific knowledge to perform preventative maintenance (PM), routine calibration, performance qualification (PQ), troubleshooting, repair, and inventory of analytical instrumentation and laboratory equipment, including but not limited to, HPLC equipment, and mass spectrometers.
Primary responsibilities:
Perform PM on analytical instruments and laboratory equipment, establish PM programs for new equipment, and update established PM programs, as required.
Perform PV's, as required, especially after power outages.
Install and configure new analytical instrumentation and laboratory equipment, including performance qualification, as required.
Efficiently and correctly repair analytical instruments and laboratory equipment to ensure minimal downtime.
Monitor equipment failures to determine the need for appropriate remediation.
Develop testing procedures and strategies.
Maintain analytical instruments and laboratory equipment records in accordance with required documentation standards.
Maintain an accurate inventory of instrument consumables and parts.
Drafting SOPs related to the routine operation, cleaning and maintenance of instruments and equipment.
Any other tasks as assigned by management
Candidate Requirements:
Associates / equivalency (60 or more college credit hours) in related field 2 years' experience OR Bachelor of Science in related field.
Extensive experience with laboratory instrumentation and troubleshooting.
Demonstrated experience with one or more of the following equipment groups:
Waters: Acquity UPLC, UPC2 and Xevo TQ-S Mass Spectrometer
Sciex: API 4000, 5500 and 6500 Mass Spectrometers
Agilent: 1100 and 1260 Infinity Series HPLC
Experience working within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, in a GLP/GMP environment
The position requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects, may seldom have to exert up to 100 pounds
Ability to operate various instrument types, including HPLCs, mass spectrometers, and automated liquid handling systems.
Position requires strong professional communication skills and attention to detail
Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and ability to adapt in a dynamic team environment are keys for success
Position is based in Exton, PA. Pay is commensurate with experience.
