What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human resource assistant position at AC Transit?

Summary

AC Transit is looking for a talented and passionate individual to handle onboarding and recruiting for AC Transit's extremely busy Talent Acquisition department.

This position works in an incredibly fast paced environment and will be responsible for onboarding new employees such as bus operators, mechanics and service employees.

This position will also handle full cycle recruitments and work cross functionally with other areas in Human Resources.

Representative Functions

  • Screens applicants for minimum qualifications based on applications, supplemental questionnaires, and other required documentation.
  • Organizes recruitment efforts, including resume searches, strategic recruitment planning, placement of advertising and promotional announcements, administration of examinations, and writing of job announcements and application materials.
  • Administers employment selection tests, trains evaluators and interview panels, reviews scoring, explains tests and examination results and procedures to applicants, and may participate in the development of tests by using test item banks, writing items, and performing item analysis.
  • Conducts reference checks of potential employees, and submits information for background investigations and responds to results by taking appropriate action.
  • Processes personnel requisitions, and conducts seniority "bid" recruitments.
  • Establishes and maintains confidential files and records, and performs administrative tasks such as data entry, and the writing and distribution of correspondence and other documents.
  • Coordinates arrangements and develops agendas and timetables for meetings, conferences, appointments, or other activities related to the assigned unit, and may take meeting minutes.
  • Responds to requests from District staff, job applicants, and the general public for information, and provides information and written materials consistent with department policies and confidentiality requirements.
  • Establishes and maintains confidential files and records, and performs administrative tasks such as data entry, and the writing and distribution of correspondence and other documents.
  • Coordinates arrangements and develops agendas and timetables for meetings, conferences, appointments, or other activities related to the assigned unit, and may take meeting minutes.
  • Responds to requests from District staff, job applicants, and the general public for information, and provides information and written materials consistent with department policies and confidentiality requirements.
  • Performs other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

Education / Experience : Depending on District needs, EITHER : Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Industrial / Organizational Psychology, Organizational Development, Public Administration, or a related field.

Completion of an internship or six (6) months entry-level professional experience in Human Resources, or a related field is desired.

OR Equivalent to an Associate's Degree from an accredited college with coursework in Human Resources, business, public administration, organizational development, or a related field, and equivalent to at least two (2) years of full time clerical and administrative work experience that has included human resources functions and procedures.

Additional Information

Physical Requirements : Must maintain the physical condition necessary to : (1) perform tasks in an office setting operating a personal computer, keyboards, and other peripheral equipment;

2) possess physical mobility in order to transport oneself expeditiously within and between District facilities.

Vaccination Requirement for Candidates Seeking Employment : Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District has implemented a requirement that requires all candidates for District employment to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19, including variants, prior to being employed by the District, subject to limited exceptions.

AC Transit adopted this vaccination policy as an emergency public health response to mitigate the negative public health consequences associated with increased incidence and test positivity rates and the prevalence of new virus variants, including increased hospitalizations, intensive care unit admissions, and deaths.

As such, candidates seeking District employment will be required to : (1) be fully vaccinated (two weeks after completion of the entire recommended COVID-19 vaccination series) and (2) submit a copy of their COVID-19 vaccination card prior to their start date, unless a reasonable accommodation request for a medical or religious exemption has been approved.

The Alameda Contra Costa Transit District has established the goal of a 100 percent drug and alcohol-free workplace.
