Staff Writer/Copy Editor

The Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA), the world’s largest model aviation association. This position is responsible for editorial functions related to the publication of Model Aviation, Park Pilot, and other AMA publications; maintains workflow to include work assignments, editorial quality, and meeting deadlines. The Copy Editor works closely with the Executive Editor and Managing Editor to plan and prioritize content for Model Aviation, keeping to the production schedule. You will communicate on a frequent basis with the Managing Editor. You will be responsible for the copy editing of editorial material in Model Aviation, Park Pilot, and other publications. You will also be responsible for producing content, as assigned.

Qualified candidates should possess the following knowledge and/or experience:

• Bachelor's degree in English or journalism with an emphasis on editorial or writing skills; postgraduate work preferred or equivalent job experience.
• Experience as copy editor or in a related position in the communications field.
• Ability to plan, organize, delegate, and manage resources.
• Excellent copy editing and proofreading skills.
• Experience with InDesign, Microsoft Office applications, and InCopy necessary; Photoshop experience preferred.
• Knowledge of magazine publishing.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
