ACCEL Schools is hiring a highly qualified Attendance Officer at Inkster Preparatory Academy in Inkster, MI, dedicated to providing a superior education for all students. We are seeking teachers who are passionate and dedicated to bringing the curriculum to life for each student. The Attendance Processing Clerk will assist with management of documenting attendance, collecting and verifying absence excuses, running and reviewing attendance and truancy reports, and preparing truancy communications.

Responsibilities
- Enter attendance in all applicable databases and systems accurately
- Receive, verify, and log absence excuses from parents in accordance with state law defining allowable absences
- Collaborate with Administrators on complex excuse requests and escalate attendance issues to Administrators as needed
- Manage communication with parents via email and phone to follow up on reasons for absence and submission of excuses
- Run attendance/engagement reports to identify students needing truancy communications
- Prepare and send truancy communications in a timely manner that upholds compliance to state law
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills/Qualifications
- High School Diploma required, Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly and exhibit sound judgment while maintaining that confidentiality
- Demonstrates a reliable, dependable, and trustworthy work ethic
- Ability to manage difficult or emotional client situations
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure, effectively prioritizing and executing tasks to meet deadlines consistently
- Customer service oriented
- Prior experience working in a school setting preferred
- Ability to work independently and contribute to a team
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly and exhibit sound judgment while maintaining that confidentiality
- Demonstrates a reliable, dependable, and trustworthy work ethic
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks
