What are the responsibilities and job description for the Editor position at ACCEL Schools?
We're looking for full-time editors to help us keep all of our lines of business growing, from copyediting learning materials, to editing training materials for educators, to reviewing and conducting quality assurance of online lessons. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- End-to-end QA of online courses
- Edit original materials, including:
- Lesson guides
- Lesson storyboards and online assets
- Print material (i.e., student workbooks)
- Assignments/assessments
- Product catalogs and offerings
- Copyedit content to correct mechanical and grammatical errors
- Review materials for adherence to established writing conventions and guidelines and make recommendations to ensure consistency and correctness
- Suggest revisions to ensure readability for different levels of learners
- Offer comments to improve the product and suggest titles and headlines.
- Assist with development of training materials
- Contribute to editorial style guide and writing conventions
Qualifications for Editor
- Bachelor's degree in journalism or english
- Strong writing and proofreading skills experience
- Experience with content management systems
- Experience editing both print and online products
- Great attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work with a team
- Ability to give constructive feedback
- Conceptual creative abilities
- Ability to work on multiple projects at once
- Familiarity with Microsoft Tools as well as Google Suite
- Edit and improve copy
- Create best practices and style guides
Education and Training
A bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or English, combined with previous experience.
Editors need to be proficient in computer use, including electronic publishing, graphics, Web design, social media, and multimedia production.
