L&D OR Scrub Tech- On Call
Schedule: Mon and Wed and every other Friday and then as needed on nights and weekends.
Assists surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying sterile set-up for operations and passing items to surgeons and nurses as needed. Assists in preparing and moving patients and in cleaning the operating theater. Assists physician in vaginal deliveries. Reports to the Department director/Manager/Charge RN. Must be a graduate of a Surgical Technologist program. Requires a minimum of 1 year experience.
- Surg Techs or LPN welcome
- Requires successful completion/graduation from a Surgical Technologist program.
- Requires American Heart Association BLS certification prior to hire.
- Assists surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying sterile set-up for operations and passing items to doctors and nurses as needed.
- Assists physician and RN in Vaginal Deliveries/C-Sections, and minor procedures.
- Adheres to and monitors compliance to AORN Perioperative Standards and recommended Practices.
- Maintain proficient knowledge of specialty equipment in service area.
- Maintain accurate and current surgeon’s preference cards.
- Maintain adequate par levels of special order items and implants within specified service area.
- Ensures the operating suite is adequately prepared for each case/procedure.
- Check surgical schedule daily to coordinate procedures with special equipment.
- Understands anatomy and physiology and has ability to monitor and adapt to changing patient dynamics throughout the case.
- Understands and follows principals of sterile processing of instrumentation and endoscopes.
- Understands the basic principles and monitors the proper use and safe operation of surgical equipment/ instrumentation.
- Collaborates and consults with team members (surgeons, nurses and anesthesia providers) to develop an individualized plan of care with the ability to make adjustments to attain designated patient outcomes.
- Monitors the level of all surgical instruments and supplies.
- Participates in efficient room turnover.
