Position Overview
Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Controller is responsible for managing the accounting operations of the company. The position maintains accounting principles, internal controls, and drives procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. The Controller must meet tight deadlines and a multitude of activities including general ledger preparation, revenue recognition, and account reconciliations. This position supervises an Accounts Payable / Staff Accountant.
Essential Responsibilities
· Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
· Delivery of accurate monthly financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow)
· Complete General Ledger account reconciliations and maintain oversight of financial data at the transactional level (including journal entries)
· Manage all aspects of revenue recognition, and related accounting principles and practices to ensure FASB, GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley and other regulatory compliance
· Manage monthly close inventory valuations and advance the company’s cost accounting activities
· Partner with external auditing firm and deliver on annual financial audit requirements
· Develop and implement policies and procedures with emphasis on internal controls and process improvements
· Manages staff responsible for purchase order entry, accounts payable, and sales tax processing
· Develop function / staff requirements into sales ordering, accounts receivable, fixed assets and other shared service activities
· Works with the Sr. Director of Finance on Board related activities, Strategic Planning, Budgeting, and Banking / Treasury obligations
· Supports the company with special projects and workflow process improvements
Requirements / Qualifications
· BS / BA degree in Accounting; CPA and/or MBA preferred
· Minimum of 8 years in related position; Public accounting firm experience desirable

· Previous experience supervising accounting staff
· Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, leadership, and problem-solving skills
· Ability to work independently and in a team within a fast-paced environment
· Highly proficient in ERP systems and/or accounting software, as well as foundational computer skills required (QuickBooks, Excel, Microsoft Suite of products)
· Willingness to contribute to the team in any manner possible to reach company goals
