What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-time MLT Lab Assistant position at ACCS?
- Assist students with classroom assignments and lab exercises.
- Prepare, maintain and repair lab analyzers and equipment.
- Assist with writing and maintaining laboratory policies and procedures.
- Keep lab areas clean, orderly, and stocked.
- Manage lab inventory and supplies; Assist with ordering as needed.
- Assist in development of classroom and lab demonstrations to promote the program.
- Perform all duties with professionalism.
- Utilize various technology and software to accomplish job related tasks.
- Assist MLT program director with NAACLS accreditation compliance
- Perform other appropriate duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Graduate of an NAACLS accredited MLT or MLS program.
- National certification as an MLT or MLS by ASCP, AMT or other recognized certifying body.
- Minimum of 3 years clinical experience in a hospital laboratory.
- Strong skills in communication, organization, interpersonal, problem solving and counseling.
- Skills and Knowledge of current computer technology.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers.
- Prior experience in supervising personnel or assessment of laboratory competency and providing useful feedback.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Willingness to work directly with students in a lab setting.
- Certifications or accomplishments in the field of laboratory medicine.
- Sensitivity and commitment to cultural diversity.
- Willingness to learn and work with other occupational areas as required.
- An understanding of the role and philosophy of the community college system.
