Job Title: QAR, remediation of hazardous Superfund site
***Work Location: La Salle, IL ***
Salary: Based on experience and will be discussed with manager in interview
REQUIREMENT- Must be a US Citizen and must pass a Federal Background Review and drug screen
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Interpret construction plans and specifications relating to construction problems of normal difficulty, i.e., those for which there are precedents and those without unusual complications
- Provide decisive resolutions to differences between plans and specifications that do not involve cost or engineering design questions.
- Utilize engineering and supervisory support as necessary for interpreting plans, specifications, and complex problem-solving.
- Access technical assistance for unusual, specialized trade, craft, or materials issues
- Review inspection reports for accuracy, completeness, and adequacy, ensuring compliance with quality standards
- Discuss unusually difficult or novel problems with supervisors, seeking guidance when necessary
- Authorize minor deviations in construction methods and practices that align with established precedents, involve no added costs, and are consistent with contract plans and specifications
- Make final decisions on the acceptability of construction methods, practices, workmanship, materials, and finished products, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards
Education/Experience:
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in construction, with a strong preference for candidates with 6 or more years in remediation of hazardous waste involving EPA Superfund sites
- Extensive experience in interpreting construction plans and specifications, resolving plan discrepancies, and ensuring quality control in construction methods and outcomes.
- Ability to provide technical solutions to complex problems and seek supervisory or engineering assistance when needed.
- Proficiency in reviewing and ensuring the completeness and adequacy of inspection reports
- Capable of making authoritative decisions on construction practices and quality issues within established guidelines
- Physical ability to navigate rough terrain and stand for prolonged periods
- Excellent communication and supervisory skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
- Ability to carry required instruments and equipment.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
