Job Title: Banquet & Catering Server
Reports To
Banquet Manager > General Manager > Owners
Job Summary
Each server’s main objective is to provide friendly, efficient, and responsive service before, during, and after an event. Servers mainly handle preparation, delivery, and clean up of events scheduled meal services and other affiliated tasks throughout the venue.
Activities & Responsibilities
To work and act in line with Ace’s mission to provide above average personalized customer service, quality food and beverage, and create an unforgettable experience that surpasses client and guest’s expectations, all at a fair and transparent price.
o Monitor and observe guests dining experience to ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service, and respond promptly and courteously to correct any problems.
o Serve food or beverages to guests or serve specialty dishes at tables as required.
o Maintain proper food safety hygiene precautions through regular hand washing, wearing of gloves, and changing of gloves as needed between tasks.
o Clear tables and counters of trash, clutter, used/finished dishware, as needed and when appropriate.
Example: When a guest is clearly finished with their meal as there is no more food left on their plate Tip:
When in doubt always ask permission before clearing anything off of someone’s table or ask the table as a whole for anything you can remove from their table, always make a second trip rather than attempting to carry more than you are capable.
o Keep an eye out for patrons who may be in violation of state liquor law and notify the appropriate staff of possible violation.
Examples: guests who are showing signs of visible intoxication, guest who have smuggled in alcohol from outside the venue, guests who are, or are attempting to drink below the federal age requirement.
o Maintain knowledge of our menu and the items within it to the best of your ability so that you are capable of answering basic questions from clients/guests.
Examples: What are Halupki, Pierogi, Haluski, what items are our handmade specialties, what soda is available at the bar, etc.
o Work together amicably with fellow employees to accomplish larger tasks, more time-consuming tasks, or tasks that cannot be done alone
Examples: heavy lifting, folding larger linens and skirting) to provide a more cooperative work environment.
o Roll silverware, set up food stations or set up dining areas to prepare for future events.
o Stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens.
o Prepare tables for meals, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glassware.

Activities & Responsibilities
o Perform cleaning duties, such as sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming carpet, tidying up server station / server’s kitchen (behind stage), taking out trash, or checking and cleaning bathrooms.
o Perform food preparation duties such as preparing salads, appetizers, and cold dishes, portioning desserts, and brewing coffee.
o When possible, assist dishwasher by thoroughly scraping debris off dishes or putting clean dishes away in their respective areas.
o Escort guests to their tables when asked. Assist guest in getting food from the buffet when asked. o Fill salt, pepper, sugars, creamers, condiments, etc. as needed
o Fold Napkins with clean creases and at a reasonable pace. (Check for linen rejects i.e., stained/ripped/burnt linens)
o Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offers suggestions for improvement.
Tools & Technology To Be Familiar With
o Credit card processing machines
o Cash registers and/or Point-of-sale software,
o Handwritten Order Slips and Associated Shorthand, Calculating Total Bill To Present To Customer
o Desktop / Laptop computers (Basic Computer Literacy) o Able to access the scheduling and timeclock software either through “Smart” Phone (iPhone or Android), Tablet, or Computer

o Standard Dishwashing and Sanitation Equipment present on site
o Food Service Equipment (Chaffing Dishes, Chaffing Fuel, Percolators, Soda Guns, Etc.)
** If you are unfamiliar with anything listed above training on proper operation can potentially be arranged. Using equipment without property training can cause injury and/or waste product.
