We are a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Individuals with Developmental Disabilities, by providing Vocational and Community Living Services. We have been serving Individuals with Developmental Disabilities in San Luis Obispo County since 1957, when we first introduced our Vocational Training Program. In 2003, we partnered with NCI Affiliates, and while both agencies have their own identities, both have a single focus - promoting independence and inclusion for adults with intellectual and/or physical disabilities through vocational training, education and adaptive living skills programs, advocacy, and community living services.Â
At Achievement House, our Job Developer is responsible for networking in the community, developing jobs and contracts for persons served, providing job enhancement resources (developing a resume, applying for jobs, etc.) and assisting individuals with finding and retaining community employment. This is not a supervisory position.Â
Essential Duties Include:Â
Provide individuals with continuous instructions for work specific to vocational growth and training objectives that guarantee and correspond with abilities and development.
Research of the labor market conditions to identify types of community-based jobs.
Provide direct service coverage when needed to help individuals retain employment.
Maintain evaluations and analysis of the job placement market plan and work environment reports, maintain a development log.
Assess and clarify the personnel potential needs of employers and training required for those jobs. Â
Follow through with employers to ensure satisfaction of both our clients and employers
Must place two clients per quarter (if referral is available)
Participate in local events pertaining to employment.
Ensure company materials are current for distribution and marketing.
Conduct Job Preparation class; quarterly job club social.

Qualifying Specifications:Â
Must have own vehicle.Â
Must maintain a current California driver’s license.Â
Must provide on-going proof of current state required auto insurance.Â
Must have an acceptable driving record as determined by criteria established by the agency’s insurance carrier.Â
Must clear fingerprints through the California Department of Justice and the FBI.Â
Must successfully complete First Aid / CPR training (Training is offered onsite)Â
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.Â
Physical Requirements:Â
Essential functions of this position require that employees regularly sit, stand, bend, twist and walk.
Employees may occasionally be required to lift or move up to 50 lbs.Â
