What are the responsibilities and job description for the Overnight RN Supervisor position at ACI?
General Overview:
The RN Supervisor coordinates the delivery of nursing services in alignment with ACI's policies and procedures, reflecting the nursing philosophy and standards. They oversee, mentor, counsel, educate, and train new nursing staff, while also collaborating with patients and clinical personnel. Additionally, they serve as a liaison between different departments and providers.
Responsibilities:
Patient Care
a) Collaborates with the nursing staff to provide patient care in accordance with the Office of Professions.
b) Triage patient needs as per schedule/sick calls.
c) Assesses changing needs of the patients during the shift and adjusts in assignments as appropriate.
d) Performs admissions after hours while collaborating with on-call providers.
e) Follow up promptly on patients who are on Medical Leave.
f) Facilitate weekly Nursing Groups for the patients.
g) Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and trauma-informed environment for all patients.
h) Communicate with DON the needs of patients with special dietary restrictions.
a) Educate and evaluate staff understanding of the standards of documentation in the EMR.
b) Collaborate with the inter-disciplinary team to create a patient-centered care plan.
c) Implements and assists staff in patient teaching programs based on specific patient needs.
a) Is effective in maintaining and assuring the quality of services provided to all patients.
b) Meets and exceeds the expectations of oversight agencies (e.g., OASAS, JACHO, etc.)
c) Inspects and oversees the safe operation of all medical equipment within the facility in accordance with quality standards.
d) Oversee medication prescriptions throughout the shift (e.g., follow up on new orders, handle deliveries, and manage medication inventory)
e) Supervise and manage the inventory and storage of controlled substances, such as Suboxone, Methadone, Ativan, Librium, and others.
Leadership
a) Training incoming nursing staff.
b) Oversight of LPNs on the unit.
c) Assigning and following up on completion of daily tasks for LPNs on the unit.
d) Responsible for completing incident reporting for nursing incidents.
e) Assigning tasks to the unit LPNs for transferring patients to the Emergency Department.
f) Facilitate Daily Staff Huddle.
g) Keep nursing staff accountable for completing set KPIs for the shift.
h) Ensures all nursing staff comply with ACI’s dress code.
i) Collect and deliver patient round sheets per shift to the DON.
j) Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Communication
a) Communicates with the Director of Nursing and other management on staff issues related to patient care and safety.
b) Reports any changes in patient’s conditions to the appropriate disciplines and documents these significant changes.
Qualifications:
- BSN degree
- Valid NYS Registered Nurse license.
- Minimum 2 years supervisory experience.
- Experience in substance use disorder treatment and/or behavioral health fields preferred.
- Knowledge of generally accepted nursing practices and principles as relevant to addiction treatment services.
- Must possess and demonstrate strong teaching and technical competence.
- Excellent bedside manner.
- Working knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and navigating EMRs.
- Excellent communication skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
