Description
This is a Daycare position at our center in Livonia Michigan. This is a small daycare setting with between 4-5 children at a time providing care to children ages 3 months- 5 years. The Daycare staff will demonstrate the ability to assist care employees children eligible for the child care benefit. The Daycare staff may also assist with serving as a responsible adult for our patients during bathroom trips, employee bathroom relief, patient bus drop-off, patient bus pick-up, light cleaning, light meal preparation, transportation of the owner’s children, etc.
The Daycare shall have a strong commitment to the organizational philosophy, mission, policies and procedures and shall meet the requirement of state, federal, and local employment regulations, as well as licensing, certification and contractual guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish and maintain a friendly demeanor that supports the therapeutic environment in the office that is specific to providing therapy and caring for children.
- Demonstrates clear, professional communications.
- Serves as a role model or professional behavior within the office environment and all activities where serving as a company representative.
- Demonstrates honed executive function skills by caring for multiple children at one time.
- Follows all company policies and procedures and does not change, alter, edit or communicate variations of those procedures without express consent of the owner.
- Demonstrates sound employment skills:
- Maintains schedule as provided by Acorn Health.
- Arrives to scheduled work hours on time, as scheduled.
- Ends scheduled work hours on time, as scheduled.
- Notifies office administration in advance if timely arrival or departure is not possible via the scheduling line.
- Does not show preferential treatment to any child.
Key Job Functions:
- Diapering and toileting
- Ensuring cleanliness
- Feeding
- Ensuring naps are taken as needed
- Providing first aid and other procedures as trained.
- Ensures that the child/children assigned are safe.
- Provides an environment and functional and/or play-based activities that nourish social, emotional, early academic and intellectual skills and needs of our children.
- Plans the day, taking into account the children’s individual routines – sleeping, meals etc. and to allow for flexibility for changes in routines.
- To be responsible for the management of the children’s behavior. Individual techniques to be discussed for each family.
- To advise parents of their child’s day, progress and potentially relevant information.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Light cleaning as assigned and scheduled.
- Light meal preparation, as assigned and scheduled.
Requirements
The following qualifications and requirements are not all inclusive. Any employee hired must be at least 18 years of age.
- Experience working with children and families
- Must be suitable to meet the physical, emotional, social and intellectual needs of each child.
- Must be capable of appropriately handling emergency situations.
- Must be in such physical and mental health so as not to negatively affect either the health of the child/children or the quality of his/her care.
- Excellent computer and technological skills
