HydroPoint is looking for a Director of product manager to lead a team of product managers who support HydroPoint’s outcome focused smart water management solutions delivered through three brands. Tens of thousands of sustainability executives, property managers, landscape contractors, and irrigation managers, and rely on HydroPoint systems to provide services that help to maximize water savings, provide a high return on their investment, increase water related operational efficiency, and reduce risk and liabilities. The position requires strong product management skills to create an organization that maximizes the value our solutions to our customers and users by clearly understanding how our products can deliver compelling outcomes to our focused market verticals and user personas. Work collaboratively with multiple departments to ensure that our solutions deliver these outcomes through the entire customer journey. Customer focused, this team has two primary responsibilities: driving growth through innovation and delivering an exceptional experience through intelligent workflow. The Director of Product Management should foster a team can execute on these responsibilities and exhibits a strong ownership of the customer’s experience and success and will work with all HydroPoint departments to ensure that success across the entire customer journey.
As a business manager responsible for product line management, this individual needs to capitalize on the huge growth opportunity in the water management market, by leading a team that identifies opportunities as well as develops and manages product lines. This position will lead their team in developing product plans, marketing and product requirements, define the user experience, set pricing, craft product messaging and positioning, and have end-to-end responsibility for the success of their product.
Provide vision and leadership to a cross-functional team responsible for developing and bringing to market exceptional product experiences and interface with Sales, Customer Success, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Finance, Manufacturing, Business Development, the executive team, customers, distributors and resellers, solutions partners, press, analysts, and industry consultants.
Key Responsibilities
- Business planning: Work with Product Management team to develop a forward-looking business strategy and product plan which defines market trends, technology and environmental shifts, opportunities and risks and a specific plan for market development for smart water management across a single commercial site or thousands of locations. Provide the company with a sense of direction.
- Product definition: Manage the team to define, through a thorough understanding of customers’ needs and environments, the specific sets of features required to deliver new products with a competitive advantage, which meet customer’s needs by delivering important benefits and which they will value more highly than the competition.
- User experience: Manage the team to develop a strong understanding of customers’ workflow; define and implement user interfaces that effectively support their activities, are approachable and easy to use.
- Positioning: Manage the team to identify and develop product line positioning that uniquely differentiates HydroPoint as the optimal supplier of smart water management systems for commercial applications. Use this positioning as another tool in our company’s arsenal to differentiate our offerings in a manner that potential customers highly value, and to achieve greater competitive advantage.
- Pricing: Work with Product Management team to set product pricing and use it as a tool to gain competitive market share while maximizing overall profitability.
- Promotion: Work with the marketing team to define merchandising and promotional vehicles, such as sales literature, direct marketing campaigns and trade show participation which help to make more potential customers aware of how our solutions better fit their needs than any alternatives. Define the messages and develop the content for these materials. Manage the introduction of new products and services to the market.
- Management: Provide strong leadership to a multi-functional product team to focus their activities on delivering solutions that most effectively meet our customers’ needs, rapidly bringing new technologies and solutions to market.
- Drive process improvement initiatives that will help the team be more efficient; identify opportunities for improvement and work with product management, business process and engineering to define and implement.
- Provide regular reporting on team performance.
- Provide regular status on product performance and trends.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 5-10 years’ experience in SaaS and IoT product management.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience managing a Product Management team
- Experience with resource (water, solar, etc.) a plus.
- Experience with landscaping and irrigation technology a plus.
- Direct experience moving a product from concept to launch.
- Proven track record of success.
- Outstanding presentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-directed, highly independent, and excellent time management skills.
- Team player who works well with sales, engineering, and executive staff.
- MBA is a plus.
