What are the responsibilities and job description for the Analytical Chemist position at Actalent?
Job Description:
Responsible for approving overall nutritional data based on labelling regulations
Interact with clients regarding chemistry nutritional labelling queries
Perform wet chemistry analysis as required
Perform testing on food samples using HPLC and GC
Perform the following testing Protein, ASH, FAT, Moisture, FAA Flame testing, LECO Protein Testing, ANKON Testing, and ELISA methods for allergens
Performs more complex sample preparation and analyses
Approve and validate test results based on knowledge of various Food Labelling regulations
Practical working knowledge of the new Canadian Food Labelling Regulations
Working knowledge of the US Food Labelling Regulations
Assist food clients with food chemistry labelling queries
Able to plan weekly activities of wet chemistry personnel to meet TAT
Must be able to perform and write up method validations in a timely manner
Review and modify SOPs as needed
Effectively communicate with team members
Document results in LIMS software and Microsoft Excel
Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor of science in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field.
Previous experience with HPLC or GC from school labs or industry.
Must have working knowledge of Excel and Word.
Independent problem solver and ability to work in a team.
Any experience performing wet chemistry or analytical testing in a food laboratory is a plus.
Practical working knowledge of AOAC , AACC and AOCS methods and validation protocols a plus.
Must effectively interact and communicate with customer service.
