Application Engineer

Description:

The Application Engineering role provides technical leadership to our Sales, Engineering, and Operations teams by applying broad-based expertise in product and process design. Application Engineering’s primary focus is on new business opportunities through ownership of projects going through our quote process. There is a secondary focus on application of new technology in innovative ways to further our process competence and capability and create competitive advantage.

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership for New Business Development:
• Review customers' technical needs and recommend specific product/service solutions to meet these needs
• Establish process concepts to direct quoting efforts
• Support a cross-functional team with technical decisions
• Interact with customers to access their requirements and provide innovative solutions
• Research and advise on market driven process changes and technology in our markets
• Assist in the technical needs of the New Product Introduction team
• Assure clarity while transitioning from Quote through Contract Review approval
• Support and sometimes lead continuous improvement projects
• Analyze and report manufacturing data on assigned projects
• Provide financial analysis, project scope, and obtain approval to proceed.

Qualifications:

• 8 years of experience with a variety of metal-based products and processes
• Strong design for manufacturability experience
• Strong applications development experience
• Experience in business development and working a customer facing role
• Strong problem resolution skills
• 3D CAD skills
• Manufacturing process development experience
