Actalent Engineering is hiring an Applications Engineer/CNC Programmer in Decatur, IL! If you do not have Engineering experience but you have extensive experience writing programs for CNC lathes, please apply if you're interested!
Description:
Made a large investment in the Decatur site, starting up a new brass foundry and is introducing a new alloy. Currently have 172 castings but over the next couple years we will have about 1,000 different castings and this department of the machine shop is tasked with re-establishing machining processes for the next 800 castings.
This department is 99% lathes. 79 lathes (Takasawas, Shimadas, Mori Seikis, and some Okumas) and 1 CNC mill. This Engineer will need to be able to program, set up and run the new part, then complete the documentation of the new process as part of a 30 piece capability study. There will be an existing program for each machine but since it's a new alloy they will have to modify speeds and feeds and in some cases depth. Writing the new g code will be very basic, similar to using Notepad on a laptop, not using a CAM software, then editing g and m codes on the machine. They need to be able to do this independently.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for improving existing machining process to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Productivity improvements.
Responsible for updating appropriate process documentation to ensure setups, programs, and tooling information is accurate and available for Operations.
Process development and implementation of new product designs.
Active, hands-on participant in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of operations issues.
Actively train Operations on new and existing machining processes.
Implements new technology as part of capital projects, maintaining timeline integrity for specific tasks.
Committed to delivering exceptional results.
Communicate and interact with all levels of the organization to facilitate action and drive improvements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
G and m codes, Fanuc controls.
Basic manual programming, selecting cutting tools and part work holding.
2 plus years’ experience highly preferred.

Salary : $66,500 - $80,000
