What are the responsibilities and job description for the Capital Cost Estimator position at Actalent?
The Capital Cost Estimator is a specialist in large industrial project cost estimating, benchmark analysis, and cost analysis through conceptual and front-end design. In this role, you will be responsible for developing screening estimates to support concept selection and detailed estimates to support project definition and budgeting. You will partner with other functional groups to ensure cost estimates are timely and accurate and with contractors and vendors to obtain current market input and insight and will participate in reviews of third party estimates to ensure accuracy.
Key Accountabilities
Collaborate with members of the project services organization by partnering with engineering, execution, development planning, procurement, construction and logistics to ensure prepared estimates are accurate and timely.
• Provides advice and analysis to support cost effective project development. Provides overall cost estimating leadership and coordination of cost estimates for large capital projects by using tools and procedures to develop cost estimates through project funding.
• Develop and steward estimate develop plans to coordinate estimate inputs and document bases for estimates to determine and quantify estimate confidence, presenting results to senior management.
• Conduct and support peer reviews for capital project estimates. Steward contractor development of estimates and estimate basis including participating in contract bid evaluations. Perform reconciliations of cost estimates through a project's initial development. Provide expert thought leadership in your field and work with limited direction, using additional research and interpretation to identify issues or problems.
• You may provide direction to supporting team members and be a strategic contributor. Other duties as assigned Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
• Minimum 10 years of estimating experience in an industrial environment
• Expertise using Aspen Capital Cost Estimator software
• Knowledge of construction methods used in industrial construction
• Understanding of risk and incorporating that with cost estimations
• Strong consulting, communication, analytical and influencing skills
• Willingness to share personal learnings and eagerness to learn from others to build knowledge
• Strong project management aptitude and experience
• Data analysis capabilities including continuous improvement experience or certifications
• Experience developing historical cost databases
• Experience using cost estimation applications
