What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chemist position at Actalent?
Description:
Day shift, 7am-3:30pm, M-F
Chemist in the research and development department that produces high-quality lubricant additives and firefighting chemicals:
Perform laboratory tests according to written procedures and as instructed by Research Scientists
Document and report testing results and observations; maintain a clean and safe lab environment including the cleaning & maintenance of lab facility and equipment to ensure sterile work environment; clean chemical lab spills
Safely and properly dispose of lab samples, raw materials, and lab chemicals in compliance with lab safety and environmental regulations
Perform regular safety checks on laboratory equipment; receive, organize, inspect, and identify incoming test samples; regularly calibrate laboratory equipment

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Combining various raw materials in specific proportions to prepare different solutions for quality assurance testing
Conducting chemical analysis, and fire testing
Maintaining inventory log of raw materials and coordinating with production department to restock on raw materials
Creating laboratory batches of products in various quantities up to 50 gallons per batch; formulating new firefighting products based on emerging market or environmental trends
Reformulating existing products based on changes in regulatory requirements/compliance.
Experience:
Bachelor's in Chemistry or 5 years of formulation experience
