Title: Chief Engineer

Department Name: Design Engineer

Reports to: VP, Engineering

Position Summary:

Supervision of Design Engineering, Project Engineering and Engineering Test Lab.

Essential Job Functions:

Ø Directs all Engineering Department activities and coordinates various engineering functions.

Ø  From upper management long-range goals, establishes department goals and sets up personnel to implement these goals.

Ø  Reviews and approves all new designs.

Ø  Establishes and implements systems and procedures to accomplish Engineering Department function.

Ø  Prepares performance reviews for Engineering section heads.

Ø  Reviews need for capital expenditures in Engineering and makes recommendations.

Ø  Reviews need for capital expenditures in Engineering and makes recommendations.

Ø  Reviews manpower requirements and maintains required staffing level.

Ø  Participates in bid/no bid meetings.

Job Qualification Requirements: Training and Experience:

Mechanical Engineering degree required, graduate degree preferred, minimum ten years’ experience as hydraulic design engineer, and knowledge in conceptual design and development.

Physical Demands:  The employee is required to:

Ø  stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.

Ø exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.

Visual Acuity:  Accommodation as required for reading computer screens and documents.

Hearing Ability:  No special requirements.

Working Conditions:  Normally works in an office environment, but may also be subject to:

Ø High noise levels from operating machines

Ø  physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts

Ø  breathing fumes, dust, and mist

Ø  skin exposure to oils and cutting fluid
