This Continuous Improvement Team Leader role supports the manufacturing of large Structural castings in both Titanium and Super-alloys for market sectors in Aero Engine, Rocket, and the Military.
This position will manage and develop a small manufacturing engineering team. With the team, lead continuous improvement efforts for the plant and drive a culture of operational excellence.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities but not limited to:
- Develop pathways for the business metrics to be connected to the shop floor manufacturing departments.
- Review the value stream for how the work gets completed and find improvements through purposeful engineering design.
- Drive velocity of problem solving through focused team efforts in TPM, PDCA cycles, Daily Management and Accountability.
- Become an expert and a teacher in the philosophies and the tools of Lean Manufacturing.
- Manage team priorities based on plant strategic and tactical goals.
- Drive strategic thinking for the manufacturing process and create multi-year plans to facilitate focused growth to the future status.
- Work with groups, such us Supply Chain, to create value steam maps and capacity models.
- Focus on development of robust process quality and process capability improvement.
- Participate on problem solving teams focused on the plant’s critical flow paths.
- Develop robust corrective actions to address root causes of scrap, rework, and non-value-added work content.
- Implement cost reductions for products and processes.
- Maintain strong line of communication throughout multiple stakeholders (different engineering functions, operations, quality, sales, planning, etc.).
- Ensure standardization across product lines and departments.
- Develop and maintain an effective personnel development program for direct reports.
- Understand product cost data, business information systems, and scheduling concepts.
- Actively support all plant policies, including EHS programs and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
- B.S. Engineering
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a manufacturing/technical environment.
