Description:
- Responsibility within the organization for mechanical design and analysis, to develop deep application expertise in the electromagnetic actuator systems space (motors, solenoids, gearboxes, etc), and to deliver new innovative technology through the use of sound engineering and physics principles. Clean sheet mechanical design of mechatronic systems for a multitude of application spaces including locking systems and material handling (automation). - Analytical approach to mechanical systems (and knowing when to apply them) including an ability to perform FEA structural analysis, thermodynamics simulations, bearing loading and life calculations, and related tasks.- Develops design of experiment to validate models and ensure designs will meet the customer performance requirements. - Creates test plans for products or components with a solid understanding of reliability and failure mechanisms. - Design of mechanical systems with integrated electronics including special requirements for electrical clearance and creepage and heatsink and thermal interface design. - Collaboration across the disciplines of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, process engineering, as well as production and commercial business teams. Work with these teams for design reviews, meeting cost metrics, and brainstorming around customer pain points. - Involved in customer interface to uncover both explicit and implicit needs and leads the activity to convert those needs into technology-based solutions. - Develops a deep understanding of the industry and applies it to build forward thinking technologies that customers are desperate for but may not have even realized it.

- Experience with design of dynamics systems is required. - Analytical modeling experience including structural FEA and heat flow simulation. CFD experience is a plus. - Experience in engaging with customers and developing technology tightly coupled to customer needs and pain points. - Skilled in building working relationships with all levels of personnel both inside and outside the organization. - 10 - 20% Travel
