What are the responsibilities and job description for the Design Manager position at Actalent?
Description:
a. 1 FTE that will support 3 ongoing projects in design at the Santa Clara, CA site.
b. Work location – Remote (site visits as needed, averaging 1x/month).
c. Working Hours – Normal business hours / Average 40 hours per week.
d. Individual will be issued a Roche laptop and associated Roche Contractor email for use on specified projects only.
e. Work with Roche’s Document Controller, assisting with maintaining project documentation in Procore and/or Autodesk Construction Cloud, Trello, and Google Docs, etc.
f. Liaise with A/E firm(s) to execute all phases of design and incorporate into construction.
g. Facilitate design meetings and assist in identifying coordination strategies at each milestone.
h. Review Design and Budget (in conjunction with Cost Estimator) at each stage gate outlined from the start of design.
i. Work with Scheduler and project team to set and enforce design schedule with fixed stage-gate deliverables.
j. Facilitate with all project team members at each design and construction milestones.
k. In conjunction with A/E, provide guidance and issue resolution on RFI and submittals.
l. Support procurement and logistics of A/E firm(s), General Contractors, and major Subcontractors.
m. Interface with Roche Users, Regional Engineering Americas function, and Project vendors to execute agreed scope within agreed timelines.
n. Lead team effort in Risk Matrix review and analysis.
o. Track and manage Differential Documents to streamline coordination between all project team members and trades.
p. Assist Construction Lead in Pay Application and Invoicing review.
q. Lead change management reviews and identify if Cost Estimating assistance is required.
r. Provide input to Project Manager on communications and monthly steering reports.
s. Review and provide input to schedule updates, submittal documentation, etc.
t. Assist Construction Lead in providing Weekly Reports on project site activities and safety.
u. Facilitate ordering and logistical aspects of equipment and construction material, i.e.: long lead early procurement, if applicable.
