Job Title: Engineer, High Containment Lab
Job Description
Responsible for evaluating engineering control systems, coordinating with university entities to ensure laboratories are properly maintained, participating in laboratory design reviews, overseeing construction, and commissioning. This position reports to the Director of Engineering Services and oversees high containment laboratory systems (Biosafety Safety Level 3 and Animal Biosafety Level 3) as well as engineering and controls for Biosafety Level 2 laboratories. Develops a consistent management routine to review control graphics and fault detection programs to identify potential disruptions. Reviews and advises the FM team on Preventative Maintenance tasks for each lab, ensuring adequacy and timeliness. Tracks repairs of equipment and systems, coordinates FM activities related to annual maintenance shutdowns for high containment labs, and maintains detailed project records including testing protocols, trend data, and reports. Supports rational and beneficial energy conservation in lab HVAC operations.
Hard Skills
- Experience designing BSL laboratories (up to level 2)
- 5-10 years of experience
