Our client is looking for an eager-to-learn and dedicated Generalist to join their team!
Description:
- work in core laboratory
- primarily support hematology including manual diffs, coagulation, chemistry, urinalysis.
- Instruments include STA Compact, Sysmex with WAM and cello vision, Iris, Cepheid, Ortho Vitros 7600, Stago XN, urinalysis instruments, ortho vision
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide age appropriate care when performing phlebotomy or other direct patient services.
- Prepares samples of blood and body fluids for analysis, taking measures to ensure the appropriateness of sample and identity of the patient.
- Reports clinical data accurately and efficiently so that care givers receive timely patient information.
- Performs varied or specialized bacteriological, serological, hematological, chemical and/or related testing.
- Prepares efficiently specimens for analysis, performs testing procedures and documents to produce accurate and reliable test results.
- Performs routine procedures requiring subjective analysis and consults with the technical supervisors and pathologists regarding atypical results.
- Performs statistical analysis relevant to analytical methodologies in use accurately. Records workload statistics accurately.
- Performs procedures and minor repairs relevant to the routine operation and maintenance of analytical equipment in their assigned sections.
- Meets established TATs during routine and heavy workflow; using good judgment prioritizes tasks at hand.
- Uses knowledge of quality control methods in determining acceptability of results. Takes corrective action to identify causes and to correct problems.
- Instructs student technicians and staff members as required. Counsels, advises, instructs, and provides technical guidance to staff members and/or students as required.
- Performs procedures accurately and completely following established infection control practices and adhering to established standards and practices for quality assurance.
- Performs all testing within their assigned section using computer linked automated electronic equipment and/or manual methodologies.
Skills & Qualifications:
- BS in medical laboratory sciences is preferred (CLS or MLS) for TECHNOLOGIST or Associate's degree in science related field for TECHNICIAN
- Completion of National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences is preferred (NAACLS)
- ASCP preferred
